These chronic diseases cause inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, leading to severe symptoms and complications. Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) can greatly affect an individual’s quality of life, leading to symptoms like abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, weight loss, and fatigue. The exact cause of IBD is unknown, but it is believed to result from a combination of genetic, environmental, and immunological factors (Kaplan & Bernstein, 2012). Understanding these factors is crucial for managing the disease and improving patient outcomes.
